Throwback Thursday: Run-D.M.C. – “My Adidas”
As far as Run-D.M.C. goes, most associate the trio with either the hit “It’s Tricky” or the classic version of “Walk This Way” that the group made with Aerosmith. When I found “My Adidas” I was happy to see just what I expected from Run-D.M.C.: light content matter that allows each emcee to showcase his rhyming abilities over a very structured and rather basic beat. As one of the originators of the entire hip hop genre, Run-D.M.C. deserves all our thanks. Having been a staple of the 1980s, the group rocked Adidas as part of its funky ensemble. And since we all know Dwight Howard rocks adidas and we’ve all heard the stuff going on with him and the possible trades that keep falling through, I saw fit to post the track in hopes that a trade will occur and we can all move on from the D12 era in Orlando. Showing up on the group’s third studio album Raising Hell (1986), the track comes immediately after “It’s Tricky” on the listing…Maybe try listening to the two in a row and see if you like how Run and the crew did that.
