Throwback Thursday: Kanye West feat. Jamie Foxx – “Gold Digger”
Sometimes you just have to throw it out there. Everyone loves this song, I don’t care if you’re no longer a Kanye fan or what, but back in 2005 when this (see video) performance occurred everyone loved this track. Today I’m just feeling this song right now. Perhaps formerly one of the most overplayed songs on the radio, “Gold Digger” is a song that still holds a place in all our hearts. I can’t believe it was only 2004 when Ye dropped The College Dropout. It seems like Kanye has been around for so so long! It’s unbelievable how little time it took for him to get to where he is now. Though the quality of his music seems to be in decline, I still believe we’ll see Kanye return to old form someday and release some tracks reminiscent of this classic. Funny thing about this track is that Kanye originally made the chorus for this song for a female to sing, but later changed it to a male’s point of view. I also have to say that even though it is very limited, Jamie Foxx’s part in this is just awesome…it has to be my favorite thing he’s done musically ever. His solo work just doesn’t do it for me as much. Bottom line: I guarantee listening to this song right now will brighten your day and maybe make you think back a few years to the time when this was brand new. Sadly, this is the first post in which I reused an artist. If you guys know any other hip-hop artists, let me know some good tunes.
Have a good day!
